Jobulous History 101

When Ross Siegel, Jobulous CEO, graduated from business school, he was offered a job at a hip and powerful new media company. Ross didn’t have much information about the culture of the company or his prospective job duties. All he had to base his decision on was a few assumptions, information from employees of the company, and media pundits’ quips. Based on the limited info at his disposal it seemed like a great gig.

Unfortunately, the company and the position weren’t the right fit. Ross left the job less than a year later.

This experience got Ross thinking. If someone had clued him in to what working for this company was like before he accepted the
job—and had he not turned down other potentially rewarding and lucrative alternative offers—he could have avoided a lot of trouble and saved a lot of time. Where was that “someone” clueing people in?

The entrepreneurial gears in Ross’ head started churning. Why not create a hub of targeted, in-depth information about careers and companies where people could scope potential employers before taking a job? Why not create a place for employees to freely and securely review their jobs and have fun doing it? And why not make it anonymous to preserve privacy and also, easy-as-pie to generate large quantities of data?

Jobulous was conceived and many months later… born.

Unlike other job research utilities, Jobulous was designed to be easy and fun without giving up depth and features. We’ve never wondered if we should charge for content or sell out our users’ private information for a buck (we know that stuff is flat-out wrong). Jobulous was created out of the desire to make a great, useful, smart product and share it with employees and job seekers everywhere. That simple.
